How to comply to Eumos 40509 and get a safety load?

Why EUMOS 40509?

With the continuous growth of online commerce and shipping goods around the world, companies face huge transportation challenges. During the transport, packages face a lot of factors which may cause damages to the product. Temperature, accelerations, vibrations, humidity, etc.

In order to reduce the risks and costs of damages, the European Safety Logistics Association (EUMOS) has created the EUMOS 40509 standards. Starting 2019, this test method is mandatory across Europe. Meaning all industrial companies and vehicles that ship their products on the road need to comply to EUMOS 40509.

The EUMOS 40509:2012 test method describes a dynamic test system to evaluate the strength and security of a load subjected to horizontal accelerations and decelerations during road transportations.

The EU Directive 2014/47/EU requires every cargo to be tested and certified for its cargo stability and cargo security. In addition, the Directive transfers liability from carriers to manufacturers to avoid shipping non-certified, accident-causing cargoes.

Trumotion acceleration test system

The Trumotion acceleration test system can perform a stability test in accordance with the EUMOS 40509 test standard.

Even after repeated braking, the tested loads cannot exceed a certain incline. Such investigations can only be carried out using a special technical application, which is able to repeatedly simulate the required horizontal load. Lansmont has therefor developed the TruMotion Acceleration Test Systems module for this exact purpose.
